Napflio – Days 2 to 7
We spent five days in Napflio, it was a perfect centre for visiting some of the major historic sites in the area. The old town of Napflio is on a peninsula, most of the streets are pedestrian only, nice stores and restaurants. It is popular with Athenians year round as a week-end destination and cruise ships stop here. It is fantastic for walking, a castle on the hil above us, a coastal trail just a few kilometers long around the peninsula, a large castle on an adjoining hill. We hadn’t expected so much within the town itself. I’m adding to my list of loved small cities: Split Croatia, Lagos Portugal and now Napflio in Greece.
We stayed in Pension Filyra, very affordable and right in the centre of the old town. Each day our room was provided with lots of goodies that I could eat and Alain could not. This could explain my waistline not shrinking in spite of all the walking.
The museum in the centre of town is small and very well done. From within this small area they have art, jewelry and pottery from human settlements going back to many thousands of years BC.
